November 17, 2020 - A sweet surprise!
Hi, Elizabeth here to share a quick story even if it is jumping days ahead from the trip to our destination in Chirivel, Spain. We have been here a bit more than a week and have been exploring the area and the closest towns nearby. During this time, I have been trying out my very rudimentary Spanish with the only person we see every day. That is a local goat herder! Anyway, I baked some brownies and gave him one a few days ago, then a some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. This evening he surprised us with a local baked treat from a town called Obia. He says they are called "rojo" (I am probably not spelling that correctly) and that they should be enjoyed with a glass of wine. Although they resemble doughnuts in the picture, they have nothing in common with a doughnut except the shape and powdered sugar coating. They are dry and crumbly and slightly sweet with some sort of dried fruit.
You can bake in your camper?
